Give your kitchen a fresh, modern update with a few coats of these stylish shades

The hands of a couple selecting from a range of paint swatches.

We love helping our Windsor community members find the perfect colour to rejuvenate their kitchen cabinets. While visiting kitchens all over the city, we've noticed a few colours that our clients tend to lean towards. These sleek, modern shades complement so many diverse types of decors and truly leave environments feeling fresh. So, without further ado, here's what we at Paint Grade think will be the most popular colours of the new year.

Kendall Charcoal

This deep, rich shade of gray has a secret: it's actually warm-toned. Rather than a classic cool blue-gray, it has slight undertones of brown or taupe that give it a rich, earthy feel. Kendall Charcoal is an excellent choice for clients who want the dark sophistication of a grey shade and still want their kitchens to have a warm, inviting feeling. It pairs well with lighter whites and creams and will complement muted tones like olive or mustard.

Style Recommendations

Leafy plants, rich red or orange tea towels, and warm shades of wood tables or fixtures will really make your Kendall Charcoal cabinets sing. This gorgeous colour is a popular choice for accent kitchen islands, as well.

Desert Twilight

A modern, elegant kitchen with tastefully painted cabinets

If you like the depth of Kendall Charcoal but prefer something a bit lighter, Desert Twilight is an excellent alternative. It's mid-toned, meaning that it mixes warm and cool hues, leaning slightly more towards cool through subtle hints of blue. The shade is modelled on a windswept desert as the sun fades, evoking a peaceful, even meditative feeling. It reminds us of natural clay.

Style Recommendations

Since Desert Twilight is muted, it pairs well with white or cream tableware and deep, rich accents like purple.

White Dove

A kitchen with dark walls and flooring made brighter by its warm white cabinets

Our favourite thing about White Dove is just how cosy it is. It's usually not the first thing you think of when imagining a white shade, but this unique colour succeeds in creating all the classic elegance typical of traditional white while also emanating a gentle warmth. It works really well to brighten and enliven spaces with dark walls, as you can see here.

Style Recommendations

White Dove is soft and neutral enough to pair with just about anything. Get creative with your tiled backsplash, accent rugsyou name it! On the other hand, its airiness provides an excellent opportunity to keep things extra bright in the kitchen. Whichever route you choose, White Dove will fit right in.

Revere Pewter

Standard modern kitchen with white cabinets

This luxurious neutral is one of Benjamin Moore's best-selling shades for good reason: it's incredibly versatile. Depending on the time of day, lighting, and the other colour accents in your space, its undertones can shift from cool to warm. With Revere Pewter cabinets, you can change the style of your space as often as you want, and this sophisticated paint will always fit.

Style Recommendations

Revere Pewter is the perfect blank canvas. Its the go-to choice for our adventurous clients who like taking risks with colour accent and materials and don't want to be tied down to a specific scheme. Go on, try it out!
